Cosmos are airy plants that give bright flowers all summer long. They grow easily even in poor soil and very sunny patches, they are drought tolerant and require little water once established. Rich soils and fertilizing can have a detrimental effect causing extra foliage but fewer flowers. Deadheading encourages flowering and prolongs the flowering season.
